Top of the South

The top of the South Island is abundant with every aspect of New Zealand’s natural beauty, from mountain and forest to a pristine coastline of endless beaches some famed for their golden sand and bush to the edge. As if this is not enough, the mild sunny climate is the envy of every other centre. The tannin waters of Patarau, the Aorere mouth at Collingwood and the sparkling Takaka of Golden Bay, the Motueka and Waimea in Nelson and the Wairau in Marlborough are some of the main rivers each different and unique, and all of which from time to time yield more than their share of whitebait.
