Lower North Island

From Wellington Harbour heading north, Highway 1 crosses numerous whitebait rivers flowing down from the Tararua Ranges. From retirees to children, this has become a popular pastime whilst gazing out to historic Kapiti Island, Te Rauparaha’s old stamping ground.
